Who is Auburn/Alabama mystery man?

Saturday is the big day of the Biscuits-Braves series, when society's pecking order will be confirmed and the hayseeds that support the other team can be shown their inferiority. It's Auburn/Alabama Night -- teams put in the order as listed on the Biscuits' promotional schedule, so don't blame me -- on Saturday.

Mississippi has four players with a rooting interest: native Alabamians Kyle Cofield, Craig Kimbrel and Jerome Gamble, plus former Auburn player Brett Butts. Montgomery no longer has anybody, unless you count Arizona carpetbagger Matt Spring, who swore allegiance to the Tide as a requirement of his fiancee's family.

There's also a mystery person out there that we won't reveal as of yet, someone whose allegiance is beyond question.

Let the Iron Bowl trash talk commence!

Besides that, some fishing equipment is being set up downtown around the civic center and you may remember that Biscuits infielder Fernando Cortez fancies himself an expert reelsman.

In case you missed it, click here to read about the governor's political faux pas, Jason Perry's trip to Florida and perhaps the first references in our sports section to The Thinker and Mona Lisa.

Which obscure reference in my career brings me the most pride? I'll have to think about it.
1. Edgar Allen Poe's "The Cask of Almontillado" -- when the pitcher locked himself in the bathroom here
2. Rodin's "The Thinker" -- comparing it to the Phillip Wellman bobblehead
3. da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" -- see The Thinker
4. perennial presidential loser William Jennings Bryan -- about a perennial state basketball tournament team seeking its first state championship

Oh, well, lineups ...
