Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, currently a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, canceled a first-pitch appearance for Friday's Charlotte Stone Crabs game.
Crabs mnascot Stoney is fuming mad enough that he's thrown his hat in the Senate ring as an independent.
He'll kick off his campaign, not surprisingly, at a Crabs home game Friday.
“Four score and seven years ago, I don’t know what year it was,” Stoney said, according to a Crabs release. “But Friday, April 23 will be a night that will live in infamy.”
Tis thought Stoney will soon have competition for the independent banner. Crist may drop out of an apparently unwinnable Republican primary and run as an independent.
