Christian Marrero’s two-run, ninth-inning triple gave the Birmingham Barons the lead in a 10-7 win over the Biscuits on Monday.
Marrero scored on a Cole Armstrong single to make it a three-run game against Sergio Espinosa. Montgomery left the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth.
The Barons scored three times in the eighth off Biscuits stopper Matt Gorgen, the Southern League saves leader, to take a 7-6 lead. Montgomery tied it in the eighth when Emeel Salem homered off Barons closer Anthony Carter.
Salem finished with three hits, two walks and three runs scored. Leslie Anderson reached base four times.
