B.J. Upton is back in Montgomery for the first time since flying out May 12, 2004 -- for the major leagues.
Upton was told after the May 11 home game with Birmingham, an 11-4 Biscuits victory, by the way, that he was to start his major league career the next day. After packing his stuff and flying out the next morning, he was in the Atlanta airport when he received a fateful call. The Rays had reconsidered and Upton was being rerouted to Triple-A Durham, which was playing that day at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Manny Upton, B.J.'s dad, confirmed that rumor either that next spring or when B.J.'s brother, Justin, was with Mobile in 2007.
