Biscuits pitcher Jimmy Patterson heads to Port Charlotte, Fla., on Saturday for Tampa Bay's extended spring training program. He's going to continue rehab on the ailing oblique that has sidelined him since April 7.
Patterson said he's scheduled to soon start a throwing program and going to Florida is a step toward returning.
"They'll be able to monitor me better down there and they'll have more trainers to help instead of (Biscuits trainer Kris Russell) getting overworked," Patterson said. "I don't want to go, but as long as I'm getting close to 100 percent ..."
