The Biscuits, for a second straight day, used a ninth-inning rally to beat the Tennessee Smokies on Wednesday. Montgomery scored twice on a ninth-inning play to take a series-ending 5-4 victory.
With runners on second and third and one out, Mikie Mahtook knocked in Shawn O'Malley with a fielder's choice to snap a 3-3 tie. A throwing error by catcher Rafael Lopez brought in Kevin Kiermaier.
Tennessee's Arismendy Alcantara singled home Matt Szczur in the bottom of the ninth to make it a one-run game.
Mayo Acosta homered, while Cameron Seitzer hit an RBI single and walked twice for the Biscuits.
Rehabbing major leaguer Matt Garza was scratched from his scheduled start for the Smokies. According to reports, he's suffering from soreness in his right arm. Garza is on the disabled list due to a spring training back injury.
