Longoria, Mason have top league skills

The Biscuits were well represented in this year's Baseball America tools survey (subscription required), winning two Southern League categories, having two players put atop their positions and seeing four alumni drawing American League mention.

Evan Longoria was the Southern League's top power hitter, according to the survey, which was completed before Longoria's promotion to Durham, while Chris Mason has the league's best control.

Reid Brignac was tagged as the minors' best shortstop prospect, while Longoria was the No. 1 third base prospect.

Former Biscuits Delmon Young, Scott Kazmir, Jamie Shields and Joey Gathright are ranked in various American League categories. Former Montgomery Rebel Jim Leyland was picked the AL's best manager.
