Thayer up to Durham

Biscuits stopper Dale Thayer's shot at a third straight Southern League saves title has taken a mighty blow.

Thayer has been promoted to Class AAA Durham. The right-hander had 21 saves -- two ahead of second-place Jon Meloan of Jacksonville -- along with a 9-0 record and a 2.26 ERA.

The Biscuits start a five-game series with the Chattanooga Lookouts today and have a rearranged starting rotation. It's Wade Davis tonight and Jake McGee, making his Class AA debut, on Thursday. Montgomery plans to follow with Chris Mason, James Houser (moved back two days) and Jon Barratt, with recently demoted Tony Peguero in the bullpen.

The team also had to cough up some rent last week and forked over $233,838.63 to the city.
