McGee joins Biscuits, to start Thursday

Heralded pitcher Jake McGee has been promoted to the Biscuits and will start Thursday at Riverwalk Stadium against Chattanooga.

McGee threw seven shutout innings in each of his last two starts with Class A Vero Beach and was 5-4 with a 2.93 ERA. The left-hander, who celebrated his 21st birthday Monday, leads the Florida State League with 145 strikeouts in 116 2/3 innings.

To make roster room for McGee, Derek Feldkamp has been demoted to Vero.

Also, pitcher Tim Corcoran's major-league rehab has ended, but it's unknown what his next step is. Two months ago, his demotion to Durham had been announced when the Rays reversed course and put him on the disabled list with an elbow strain. He's eligible to come off the DL on Thursday.
