Follicly challenged catcher
Craig Albernaz starred on the mound for Durham tonight in a 9-3 loss to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Albernaz retired all three batters he faced in the ninth inning and threw six of his 10 pitches for strikes. As far as I can find, it was the first pitching appearance of his career. Albernaz did play outfield for one game at high-A Vero Beach last year and has flashed the leather at second base once this season for Durham.
The Bulls were thin in the pen tonight after starter
Carlos Hernandez missed a second straight start Sunday.
Our diligent staff here at Biscuit Crumbs found that Albernaz has been preparing for such a possibility. At left, he shows a little change-up grip while with Montgomery late last year.
