Player who hit Downs wins league award

Birmingham's Christian Marrero, the player whose line drive struck Biscuits pitcher Darin Downs, won the Southern League's weekly hitter's award today. Marrero hit .304 with nine RBIs and is the sixth different Baron to win this year. Tennessee Smokies left-hander Jeremy Papelbon was the top pitcher after not allowing an earned run in 12 2/3 innings.
