Former Biscuits catcher Iker Franco and the Quintana Roo Tigers trail 3-2 to Saltillo in the best-of-7 Mexican League championship series. Game 6 is tonight at Saltillo.

RHP Jeremy Hellickson reached 10 strikeouts for the second straight start Tuesday. He allowed three hits and three runs in seven innings. Hellickson is 4-1 with a 3.40 ERA.
LHP Jason Cromer gave up one run in seven innings of a no-decision Thursday. He’s 6-3 with a 2.47 ERA.
CF Desmond Jennings has reached base 40 times and scored 15 runs in 25 games.
RF Matt Joyce was 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs Friday, giving him a .274 average, 15 homers and 62 RBIs this season. He hit a first-inning grand slam Monday.

RHP Alex Cobb has won his last two starts and is 5-1 with a 2.76 ERA in his last nine starts. He’s 8-5 with a 3.14 ERA this season.

RHP Jeremy Hall threw five shutout innings Wednesday in a no-decision after losing his previous three starts. He’s 13-7 with a 3.79 ERA.
CF John Matulia is hitting .277 with 27 runs scored and 26 RBIs.
LHP David Newmann is 7-6 with a 3.85 ERA and 102 hits allowed in 117 innings.

OF K.D. Kang, by going 14-for-30 in his last nine games, has pushed his season average to .301. He’s hitting .385 in August.
LHP Matt Moore gave up a season-high eight hits and six runs in 3.2 innings last Sunday. He gave up a home run and hit a batter for the first time in more than two months.

LHP Jacob Partridge took a complete-game loss Wednesday, allowing one run on three hits in six innings. He has a 1.85 ERA and has allowed 23 hits in 34 innings.
RHP Andrew Bellatti gave up one hit in four shutout innings Monday.

RHP Chris Mason threw seven shutout innings Tuesday in his debut at Triple-A Buffalo (Mets). He allowed five hits and walked one.
RF Elijah Dukes knocked in five runs Tuesday for the Washington Nationals and was 3-for-4 with two doubles Friday. He’s hitting .244 with 51 RBIs.
CF Joey Gathright ranks third in the Triple-A International League with a .329 average for Norfolk (Orioles).
RHP Tim Corcoran picked up his first win for Triple-A Albuquerque (Dodgers) on Wednesday. He has a 6.32 ERA in four games.
1B Rhyne Hughes hit his first home run for Triple-A Norfolk (Orioles) against Durham on Wednesday. He’s hitting .194 in 10 games.
IF Johnny Raburn has a .299 average in 32 games with Triple-A Nashville (Brewers).
2B Josh Asanovich is hitting .287 with 55 runs scored at independent Winnipeg.
