Bulls avoid sweep with ninth-inning win

Elliot Johnson raced home on a Leslie Anderson flyout with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the Durham Bulls a 3-2 win over the Columbus Clippers on Thursday.

Johnson led off the ninth with a walk and went to third on Justin Ruggiano's bloop single. The Clippers intentionally walked Chris Richard to bring up Anderson, who hit a line drive flyout to center.

Rashad Eldridge hit an RBI single and scored in the fifth to make it 2-0. His single brought home Angel Chavez from second. Eldridge ended up on third after center fielder Eziquiel Carrera's error and was in position to score on Fernando Perez's flyout.

The Bulls avoided a sweep in the International League championship series. Game 4 is Friday.
