Former Biscuits pitcher James Shields is Tampa Bay's nominee for this year's Roberto Clemente Award. The award recognizes a major league player's community service. Shields started his Big Game James Club this year for two organizations in the Tampa Bay area that assist foster children. He's worked with both groups for four years.
Fans can participate in the award by voting at www.chevy.com/clemente. There's a seven-voter panel that includes Roberto Clemente's widow, Vera. The fan winner will count as an eighth vote.
