Pensacola Blue Wahoos shortstop Billy Hamilton broke the minor league stolen base record in the first three innings of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Biscuits.
After walking and stealing third base in the first inning, Hamilton hit a two-out single in the third before stealing second and third base.
That left him with 146 steals this season between high-Class A Bakersfield and Pensacola, snapping Vince Coleman's mark of 145 set in 1983 at Class A Macon.
The three steals came against Montgomery's battery of pitcher Kyle Lobstein and catcher Mark Thomas. Lobstein had allowed just one steal this season, while Thomas had thrown out a Southern League-best 47 percent of potential basestealers.
Hamilton, through three innings, has a league-best 42 steals in only six weeks with the Wahoos.
