Alfredo Lopez, Jacksonville's No. 9 hitter, hit a tiebreaking two-run single in the eighth inning and finished with four RBIs in the Suns' 9-6 win over the Biscuits on Saturday.
Jacksonville trimmed Montgomery's lead to one game in the Southern League's second-half South Division race. There are eight games remaining in the regular season.
Lopez's RBI single in the third capped a four-run rally that tied it 6-6. After his eighth-inning single dribbled through the middle of the infield to make it 8-6, he scored on a Jake Smolinski double.
The Biscuits scored six runs in the first two innings. After Mikie Mahtook's two-run double in the second, Montgomery had just three more hits.
Jacksonville, the worst-hitting team in the Southern League, racked up a season-high 16 hits.
