Hudson Valley Renegades outfielder Marty Gantt, who overcame a hand deformity to become a college baseball star, was one of four Tom Walter Award winners.
The award recognizes inspirational stories in college baseball.
Gantt, a seventh-round draft pick of the Rays in June, was the Southern Conference player of the year at the College of Charleston. He hit .373 with 11 home runs and 46 RBIs.
Gantt was born with an underdeveloped right hand. His fingers end just past the knuckles.
