Saturday: Biscuits 2, Barons 1

Juan Sandoval, who is blind in his right eye from a 2006 shooting, retired all six batters he faced threw two shutout innings in the Biscuits' 2-1 win over the Birmingham Barons on Saturday.

Sandoval pitched the last two seasons in the Mexican League and marked his return to the United States on Saturday.

The Biscuits, down 1-0, scored in the fifth and sixth innings on sacrifice flies. Shawn O'Malley knocked in Mark Thomas in the fifth. Mikie Mahtook hit a leadoff triple in the sixth and came home on Todd Glaesmann's flyout.

Biscuits starter Enny Romero gave up one hit and an unearned run in four innings. Neil Schenk threw two innings and was the winning pitcher. C.J. Riefenhauser's perfect, 11-pitch ninth finished it.
