Richie Shaffer's leadoff home run sparked a three-run seventh inning that lifted the Biscuits to a 5-4 win over the Birmingham Barons on Friday.
After Barons starter Myles Jaye retired the final 10 hitters he faced, Shaffer greeted reliever Nestor Molina with a homer over the 395-foot mark in left-center field. It also cleared an 18-foot wall.
Taylor Motter's two-run double put Montgomery ahead. With one out, Riccio Torrez singled and Luke Maile doubled to precede Motter's hit.
Biscuits reliever Matt Lollis threw 1 1/3 hitless innings for the win. Reliever Jimmy Patterson's 1 2/3 innings before Lollis were marred by just an infield single. Santiago Garrido worked a one-hit ninth for the save.
