Sonnanstine, Brignac to big-league camp
Pitcher Andy Sonnanstine and shortstop Reid Brignac, key parts in Montgomery's Southern League championship last season, have been invited to Tampa Bay's major-league spring training.
Sonnanstine became the Devil Rays' first 15-game winner last year when he was 15-8 with a 2.67 ERA for the Biscuits. Brignac was the Class A California League's most valuable player, despite spending the final month of the season with Montgomery.
The Rays also invited center fielder Fernando Perez, who spent all of last year at Visalia and is due to play for the Biscuits this season.

Montoyo wins Tampa Bay award
The Tampa Bay Devil Rays named former Biscuits manager Charlie Montoyo their inaugural Player Development Man of the Year on Wednesday.
Montoyo has been a manager in the Devil Rays' minor-league system since joining the organization in October 1996. He's slated to manage Class AAA Durham this year after leading the Biscuits to the Southern League championship last fall. Montoyo was with Montgomery for three seasons.
The Rays also named Paul Kirsch as their inaugural Scout of the Year. Kirsch has also been with Tampa Bay since 1996 and is responsible for Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming. He signed former Biscuits pitchers Jason Hammel and Jeff Ridgway, who are on the Rays' 40-man roster.

Mako to manage Mets
The New York Mets named former Biscuits coach Mako Oliveras the manager of their Class AA team in Binghamton, N.Y., on Wednesday.
Oliveras was a coach for the Biscuits the last two years and had been hired by the Mets to be a roving instructor, but instead will manage the Binghamton Mets. Oliveras has managed 11 minor-league seasons, including the three before joining manager Charlie Montoyo's staff in Montgomery.
Oliveras is currently in Puerto Rico managing the Caguas Criollos.
