O'Malley activated to take Royster's roster spot

Shortstop Shawn O'Malley has been activated off Montgomery's disabled list after outfielder Ryan Royster left the team to have back surgery. O'Malley hasn't been in the lineup since April 18 and hasn't played in the field since April 11 due to a shoulder injury.

Did I miss the announcement of this holiday?

Me thinks it may be some sort of national Make Fun of Tampa Bay's Attendance Day. Sounds like a fine holiday. Deserved, too. Easy to decide on the proper attire: Dress as an empty seat.

Chicago Tribune
The Trop is not a palace, we'll give you that. But neither its hermetically sealed nature nor the drive to get there is a good reason for not supporting a team that is arguably the easiest to love in the majors.

Seattle Times
If a pennant race falls in an empty stadium, does anyone hear it?

St. Pete Times
As exciting, rewarding, confidence-boosting and crowds-drawing (oops, skip that one) as the Rays' April was, it was just April.

Sunday's game canceled

Don't worry about Sunday's game at West Tenn, either. It's already been postponed because of weather. The Biscuits and Jaxx will still play a doubleheader Monday.

Chattanooga prospect busted for drugs

Chattanooga Lookouts outfielder Andrew Lambo, the seventh-ranked prospect in the Los Angeles Dodgers' system by Baseball America, was suspended for 50 games today.

Lambo tested positive for a "drug of abuse" and this is his second offense, according to the Major League Baseball release. A first offense is confidential and leads only to counseling and treatment.

The 21-year-old was also caught smoking marijuana as a high school sophomore, according to the annual Baseball America Prospect Handbook.

Lambo, LA's No. 1 prospect a year ago, was hitting .342 with 13 RBIs and 16 runs scored in 19 games this season.

Biscuits washed; twinbill Monday

Montgomery's game tonight at West Tenn has been rained out and will be made up as part of a doubleheader Monday.

Sunday's game begins at 2:05 p.m. and Monday's play starts at 11:05 a.m. -- as previously scheduled. But Monday will now feature two seven-inning games.
