Biscuits, Rays staying together

The Biscuits and Tampa Bay Rays have renewed their vows, agreeing to a four-year extension to run through 2014.

The Biscuits announced it before their home finale tonight. The player development contract that bound the two was set to expire at the end of this season.

Montgomery has been a Tampa Bay affiliate since the Biscuits started play in 2004. With Desmond Jennings' debut Wednesday with the Rays, there have been 45 former Biscuits who have reached the majors.

The Biscuits-Rays' move leaves one Southern League team without formal arrangements for 2011: the Huntsville Stars.

The Milwaukee Brewers, Huntsville's parent club since 1999, are likely to seek other affiliation. Arkansas (currently Angels), San Antonio (Padres), Erie (Tigers) and Richmond (Giants) are the other Double-A teams whose 2011 affiliation is unsettled.

Im glad they got this together, and we must be getting along to have a four year deal instead of the two year arrangements we have gone with before.... Now i can get back to being critical about why they didnt send us any help for a playoff run!
