Rays' Venezuelan pitcher suspended for drugs

Angel Yepez, a right-handed pitcher for the Rays' team in the Venezuelan Summer League, has drawn a 50-game drug suspension from Major League Baseball.

Yepez tested positive for metabolites of Nandrolone, a performance-enhancing drug. Yepez, who turned 18 in late April, had made one appearance this season.

He's the third Rays minor leaguer suspended in 2013, according to Minor League Baseball. Catcher David Wendt has two weeks left on his suspension. Pitcher Jose Disla was suspended in late April.

Tampa Bay had eight players suspended in 2012.
