Biscuits infielder Greg Sexton and right-handed relief pitcher Zach Quate have been released.
Sexton was hitting .212 in 12 games, while Quate had an 18.90 ERA in eight appearances.
Sexton, 28, was in his fourth season and had a .225 overall average with the Biscuits. He made his Double-A debut in 2010 before a mid-May demotion to high-Class A Charlotte.
Sexton had Montgomery's only hit in a loss at Birmingham on May 16, 2010, just before being sent down. The Biscuits finish a series at Birmingham tonight.
Quate, 25, was in his third season with the Biscuits, though he made just one appearance last season due to shoulder and elbow injuries. Quate was 4-6 with a 4.68 ERA and 20 saves in 49 games in 2011.
Sexton was a 10th-round draft pick in 2007 from William & Mary. Quate a 14th-rounder in 2009 from Appalachian State.
