C.J. Riefenhauser squirmed out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth inning to help the Biscuits secure a 5-3 win over the Mississippi Braves on Friday.
Mississippi scored to pull within just 4-3 and loaded the bases with one out when the Biscuits signaled for Riefenhauser.
The left-hander, who entered with an 0.79 ERA, got a popup from Jaime Pedroza and a strikeout from Barrett Kleinknecht. Of the 12 baserunners Riefenhauser has inherited this year, none have scored.
Montgomery snapped a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning with Mikie Mahtook's two-run single. Kevin Kiermaier, who finished 4-for-4, and Shawn O'Malley scored on the play and each finished with two runs scored.
