Denny Almonte's first-pitch home run sparked a six-run eighth inning that lifted the Jackson Generals to a 9-3 win over the Biscuits on Monday afternoon.
Gabriel Noriega's two-run single capped the rally, which gave Jackson a series victory at Riverwalk Stadium. Rich Poythress homered and scored three times for the Generals.
Biscuits right-hander Victor Mateo posted a quality start, giving up two earned runs on four hits in six innings. Reliever Marquis Fleming (2-2) gave up five runs and recorded one out in the eighth.
Montgomery scored in the first when Kevin Kiermaier singled and came home on a double-play groundball. With two outs in the third, Cameron Seitzer and Todd Glaesmann hit consecutive RBI doubles.
