Pre-emptive strike

I'm using this anecdote in next week's David Price story. Since someone else may also use it, I'm throwing it out here now because I don't want anyone to think I copied it, dadgumit!!!

Price was drafted in 2004 but turned the Dodgers, who even used Tommy Lasorda to woo him. Price tried to warn teams he wasn't signing, according to Vandy coach Tim Corbin.

"He had a message on his answering machine before he was drafted that said, ‘Hi, everyone. This is David Price. For you scouts who are interested, I’m going to school. Please don’t draft me,'" Corbin said. "That was it."
