So long, Salty

Don't come to Riverwalk Stadium tonight just to see Mississippi catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, the Braves' top prospect. Atlanta called up Saltalamacchia today and he's starting tonight against the Phillies at Turner Field. It's also his 22nd birthday.

Saltalamacchia isn't the first high-profile Mississippi Brave to get called to the big leagues while in Montgomery. Jeff Francoeur was in town when Atlanta promoted him two years ago.

The Braves were in need after Brian McCann and Brayan Pena were hurt Tuesday. Saltalamacchia was hitting .309 with six home runs and 13 RBIs for Mississippi this year after struggling to a .230 average with 39 RBIs there last season.

It wasn't out when I went to the clubhouse. Apologies!!! =)

By the way, Fernando Perez could be out up to two more weeks, James Houser will probably miss his next start and Braves pitcher/Auburn native Michael Nix needed six tickets for tonight's game.

Perez hurt his knee at Jacksonville, while Houser is on his second medical condition of the last week. He had his wisdom teeth taken out Thursday, but an oblique tweak while throwing at Jacksonville is why he missed his last start.
