Alabamian draws drug suspension

Doc Brooks, who played at Central High in Phenix City before going on to the University of Georgia, was suspended today by the independent South Coast League for violating the league's drug policy.

Brooks, an outfielder, and second baseman Joey Hooft of the South Georgia Peanuts were suspended for 10 games. The South Coast League, which says it's the only independent league with a written drug policy, suspended two other players last week.
