Devil Rays pitcher Juan Salas, a former Biscuit, was suspended for 50 games today after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance.
The Rays had just demoted Ruddy Lugo after Sunday's game and are bringing up Chad Orvella to replace him. Not sure if they can pull Lugo back or if they'll grab somebody else. Lugo pitched well this weekend, picking up a win Saturday and striking out the side Sunday before being demoted.
Salas was 1-1 with a 3.95 ERA in 15 appearances for the Devil Rays this season.
UPDATE: Looks like Tim Corcoran will be promoted to take Salas' spot. That leaves an open roster spot at Durham and the Biscuits might be losing someone to fill it. Once James Houser comes off the disabled list, Montgomery will have 14 pitchers.
