Biscuits say howdy to Dowdy

After four days of Alabama football, I can share some Biscuits info today.

rLeft-handed pitcher Justin Dowdy is joining the Biscuits from the independent Wichita Wingnuts. Dowdy had a 1.08 ERA in 27 appearances this season, his 10th as a professional. The Biscuits, who announced the signing today, are still one short of the Southern League roster limit. (Nick Singleton, a Lee High grad who has close ties to the Biscuits front office, was was a teammate of Dowdy's at Wichita.)

rJake McGee, promoted this week to Triple-A Durham, will apparently move to the bullpen with the Bulls.

rFormer Biscuits pitcher Wade Davis won the American League rookie of the month award for July. He was 4-0 with a 3.03 ERA in five July starts for the Rays.
