Delmon Young one of majors' top players in July

Former Biscuits outfielder Delmon Young is a finalist for the major league Player of the Month award for July.

Young, now with the Minnesota Twins, led the majors with a .434 batting average in July and was second with 30 RBIs and a 1.191 on base-plus-slugging percentage.

The other nominees are San Diego's Heath Bell, Detroit's Miguel Cabrera, Philadelphia's Ryan Howard, San Francisco's Buster Posey and the New York Yankees' Mark Teixeira.

Fans can vote on the award at pepsiclutch.mlb.com. Voting is open through 10:59 p.m. Central Thursday.
