Talked to Reggie Golden today and he's setting high goals for his first full professional season. He's with the short-season Boise Hawks and was about to start a 10-hour bus ride for Friday's season opener in Eugene, Ore.
Golden, of Wetumpka, wants to hit over .300 this year and is shooting to "hopefully" end it with high-Class A Daytona, a two-promotion jump.
"I've learned a lot of stuff, and I'm trying to work on my game and learn even more," Golden said. "I'm trying to be more consistent at the plate."
Golden has been at the Chicago Cubs' extended spring training program in Arizona the last few months. The weather is a bit more comfortable in Idaho, too.
"It will feel good to actually have people in the stands and play under the lights," Golden said.
