Chattanooga first baseman Jerry Sands and Carolina right-hander Matt Klinker won the Southern League's weekly awards today.
Klinker allowed two earned runs on eight hits in 13 innings over the last week to improve to 5-4 with a 1.75 ERA. He's recorded eight straight quality starts for the Mudcats.
Sands was 7-of-15 with three home runs in four games. He was promoted last week to the Lookouts after hitting .333 with 18 homers in 69 games at low-Class A Great Lakes.
