Woods Fines retires

Pitcher Woods Fines, who hasn't pitched since October 2008 surgery for a stress fracture in his elbow, has retired. Fines was in Tampa Bay's rehab program coming out of spring training and has been listed on Bowling Green's disabled list. A 14th-round draft pick in 2004, he topped out at low-Class A.

Bowling Green also added pitcher Albert Suarez to its DL. Suarez threw three innings Monday for the GCL Rays. The Hot Rods also shifted catcher Mayo Acosta and infielder Diogenes Luis to Hudson Valley.
