Salvador Sanchez snapped a tie with a long seventh-inning home run and the Birmingham Barons beat the Montgomery Biscuits 4-2 on Monday.
The Biscuits had a five-game winning streak snapped, while the Barons stopped a six-game skid.
Sanchez’s homer made it 3-2 and John Shelby III added a solo homer on the first pitch of the ninth inning. Montgomery scored on Matt Fields’ two-run homer in the sixth, an opposite-field shot.
The loss cut Montgomery’s lead in the first-half South Division race to a half-game over the Jacksonville Suns.
