Braves third baseman Chipper Jones just shot down reports that he has decided to retire, saying that any decision will wait until the offseason.
"Honestly, I have not made a decision either way. Obviously, we know which way I'm leaning," Jones said at a news conference at his locker.
"Somehow, the cork got taken out. I'm putting it back in."
He said he won't make a decision now because he doesn't want to take away from Bobby Cox's final season or distract teammates from a pennant chase.
"I'm on a first-place ballclub," he said. "I'm hitting third and playing third for a first-place ballclub, which is where I like to be. I'm going to focus on that and helping Bobby go out the right way.
