Caleb Gindl’s RBI single in the seventh inning pushed the Huntsville Stars to a 4-3 win over the Biscuits on Sunday and likely deprives Montgomery of a first-half South Division championship.
With Montgomery’s loss, the Biscuits need the Jacksonville Suns to also lose Sunday. The Suns led the Birmingham Barons 5-0 in the seventh inning.
The Biscuits frittered away two leads Sunday. They scored twice in the top of the fifth before giving up two unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth. Matt Fields homered in the top of the sixth, but Huntsville scored another unearned run in the bottom of the sixth to tie it.
Montgomery had three errors Sunday and totaled 14 in the final four games -- all losses -- of the Huntsville series.
