After Friday's rain and a little rain, Montgomery still leads Jacksonville by a half-game with two days remaining in the Southern League's first-half race.
The Biscuits lost 9-6 at Huntsville tonight, while the Suns lost 3-1 at Birmingham in the completion of a game suspended in April. However, the regularly scheduled Suns-Barons game was suspended in the bottom of the second with Birmingham up 2-0.
The Suns and Barons have to complete that seven-inning game Saturday and then will play another seven-inning game, while the Biscuits continue a series at Huntsville.
The Biscuits' magic number is three. If the Barons sweep and Montgomery wins, the Biscuits clinch a playoff spot.

Isn't the magic number now 2? It was 3 before yesterday's games, and JAX lost 1...
and, if MGM wins its last 2 games, they're at 40-28 (.588), while if JAX wins its last 3 games they're at 41-29 (.586), so MGM gets the title. Right?
Based on what Joe Davis, the radio announcer, said, that is correct.
I guess I'm just error-prone. Maybe the writer that will cover the team once football gets started will do a better job.
I saw the different magic number in the 11:46 release last night. Unfortunately, we have an 11:35 page deadline. No, the Biscuits are not important enough to hold the paper.
