Georgia Tech pitcher Jed Bradley, a Huntsville native, was the 15th overall pick in the draft by the Milwaukee Brewers, whose Double-A team is in Huntsville.
Bradley was 7-3 with a 3.49 ERA this year and 18-11 over three seasons for the Yellow Jackets. Baseball America had him as the No. 2 left-handed pitcher available, behind Virginia's Danny Hultzen, who went second overall to the Seattle Mariners.
Bradley is the first first-round draft pick from Alabama since 2006 when Russell County High left-handed pitcher Kasey Kiker went to the Texas Rangers. Kiker was the 12th overall pick.
Bradley played his senior season at Huntsville High, though he missed most of the year after having his appendix removed.
