Rebels' 3-peat history faces challenge from BayBears

The Montgomery Rebels' piece of Southern League history will face a challenge this week.

The Mobile BayBears, after finishing off a semifinal playoff series victory over Mississippi on Sunday, are gunning for their third straight Southern League championship.

No team -- other than the Rebels from 1975-77 -- has won three straight.

The BayBears downed the Mississippi Braves in four games, winning Sunday's finale 15-0.

They'll face either the Tennessee Smokies or Birmingham Barons. The Smokies and Barons play a decisive Game 5 on Monday.
