Bulls lose playoff opener

Zach McAllister worked six innings to lead the Columbus Clippers in a 3-0 over the Durham Bulls in Wednesday's opener of their International League playoff series.

Matt Moore gave up three runs in 6 2/3 innings for Durham, which managed just five hits. Ray Olmedo had two singles, while Stephen Vogt doubled and walked.

Olmedo's bunt single in the fifth gave Durham its final baserunner.

Columbus reliever Chen Lee worked a perfect seventh and eighth. Zach Putnam tossed a perfect ninth.

Game 2 of the best-of-5 series is Thursday at Durham.
