Matt Jackson surrendered an unearned run over six innings to help the Fort Wayne Tincaps beat the Bowling Green Hot Rods 6-3 on Thursday.
Fort Wayne took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 Midwest League playoff series with Game 2 Friday at Bowling Green.
Phil Wunderlich was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored for the Hot Rods. Starter George Jensen gave up three runs in five innings, including a home run to Mike Gallic in the fourth.
