Rashad Eldridge’s RBI groundout in the sixth inning gave Montgomery the lead in the Biscuits’ 3-2 win over the Jacksonville Suns on Sunday.
Chris Nowak scored Montgomery’s first two runs and had a key single in the go-ahead rally. After Nevin Ashley drew a leadoff walk, Nowak’s single allowed Ashley to reach third and put him in position to score on Eldridge’s groundball.
Nowak hit his fifth home run of the season leading off the fourth. He walked and scored in the second inning.
Starter David Newmann (2-3) snapped a two-start losing streak, allowing two runs over six innings. Dane De La Rosa worked two innings before Matt Gorgen pitched the ninth for his 12th save.
