Former Biscuits catcher Jose Lobaton is headed back to the majors for a second shot at his Tampa Bay Rays debut.
The Rays promoted Lobaton and pitcher Jake McGee from Triple-A Durham and putting catcher John Jaso on the disabled list. Lobaton spent two days on Tampa Bay's active roster last season but didn't play in a game and, therefore, isn't on the Biscuits-to-majors list.
Jaso is out with a right oblique strain. McGee, who already has major league experience, is back and filling an open roster spot after going 4-2 with a 2.70 ERA in 24 games with the Bulls.
Lobaton, who played in seven games for the San Diego Padres in 2009, has a .293 average and a .410 on-base percentage in 54 games at Durham. He has eight home runs and 31 RBIs.
