Colome, Wrigley top minor league Rays for July

Alex Colome and Henry Wrigley won Tampa Bay's minor league players of the month for July.

Colome was 5-1 with a 2.23 ERA in six July starts for the Biscuits, holding hitters to a .221 average and totaling 36 strikeouts in 40 1/3 innings. It helped earn him a promotion to Triple-A Durham.

Wrigley had a .370 average in 25 July games at Durham with 18 RBIs and 16 runs scored. He had a .389 on-base percentage and a slugged .580.

Wrigley's average was second best among Rays minor leaguers who played in more than 10 July games with one team. Princeton's Andrew Toles hit .375 with 17 RBIs and 11 runs scored.

Colome was one of two Rays with five July victories. Bowling Green's Parker Markel was 5-0 with a 2.55 ERA in six starts. He held hitters to a .188 average with 35 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings.
