Pedroza, Asanovich, Gautreau released

The player who hit the biggest home run in Biscuits history was released today.

Outfielder Sergio Pedroza, who hit the Southern League-winning home run in 2007, was one of three players released by the Rays. His three-run home run in the top of the ninth inning pushed the Biscuits over Huntsville in the decisive Game 5 of the league championship series.

Second baseman Josh Asanovich, with the Biscuits the last two years, and infielder Jake Gautreau, signed this offseason from an independent league, were also released. Asanovich asked for his release.

Sounds like we will have a much different team than last year. Do you think Jennings will break with the club??

Not sure. I think the Rays are pondering where to send Jennings this year.

Two other players (likely Biscuits, too) forcefully reacted when I said Jennings "could" start with Montgomery.

"No, should," one said.
