Darin Downs pitched a six-hit complete game, the first of his career, with no walks and seven strikeouts. All three runs came in the first inning on a three-run Curt Smith homer. Downs faced the minimum from the fourth inning on. He erased a fourth-inning single with a pickoff and an eighth-inning single with a double play. The 24-year-old left-hander is 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA.
Biscuits off. Hot Rods rained out.
