With Rays pitcher Wade Davis nursing a right forearm strain, he's done on Tampa Bay's disabled list and the Rays have promoted reliever Brandon Gomes from Triple-A Durham.
Gomes is accruing major league service time for the second time this season. He had a 3.09 ERA in 10 games between May 3-30. After returning to the Bulls, he's had an 0.75 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 12 innings/nine appearances.
Davis started Wednesday at Minnesota and gave up three earned runs in five innings. (I never came up with a nickname for Davis, did I? For some reason, the Lake Wales Monster is coming to mind now.)
