Thursday's Rays roundup

Charlotte 6, Bulls 3 (Game 1)
Leslie Anderson
hit his ninth home run and Felipe Lopez and Russ Canzler had two hits each. Alex Torres went 4 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (one earned).

Bulls 7, Charlotte 4 (9, Game 2)
Jose Lobaton
walked and scored the go-ahead run in the ninth inning. Desmond Jennings added an RBI single and Russ Canzler a sacrifice fly. Canzler also walked three times. Leslie Anderson was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. J.J. Furmaniak had two hits, a walk and two runs scored.

Stone Crabs 6, Jupiter 5
Mike Sheridan
and Tyler Bortnick each had three hits and scored twice. Bortnick also had two RBIs. Jake Jefferies capped a three-run eighth with an RBI single to make it 6-3. Jefferies singled twice, walked, knocked in two runs and (gasp) stole a base, his career 10th. Jake Thompson worked six innings, allowing one run on five hits and two walks.

Hot Rods 6, Dayton 5
Keith Castillo's
three-run single in the eighth gave Bowling Green a 6-3 lead. With two outs, the Hot Rods went infield single-walk-walk to bring up Castillo. Steve Tinoco and Kevin Price each scored twice. Braulio Lara threw five shutout innings with three hits and three walks.

Brooklyn 16, Renegades 5
Jeff Malm
and Matt Rice hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning. Malm's was a three-run shot. He also walked. Cesar Guillen singled and walked twice.

Bluefield 6, Princeton Rays 4
Jake DePew
hit a three-run homer in the sixth, walked and stole a base. The P-Rays hit into 15 groundball outs. Matt Swilley gave up one run on four hits in 4 1/3 innings.

GCL Twins at GCL Rays
Game postponed with a 1-1 tie in the sixth. To be resumed Monday. Kirby Yates threw three sutout innings.
